Sydney Printmakers at Megalo Print Studio + Gallery
28 September – 2019 – 2 November 2019
This triptych was made at Art Print Residency Barcelona. In 2018 the King of Spain came to the city and was boycotted by the Catalan population, leaving the city square deserted. A banner draped from a nearby building proclaimed ‘the king of Spain is not welcome’. This image was made in response to the event. It is also a metaphor for a struggle for freedom and independence – and a borderless state of mind.
