In October 2018 I attended a four-week residency at Art Print Residency near Barcelona. I worked as an artist in residence making relief prints using wood and lino as the base material for carving and etching images. It was an intense and inspiring period, looking at the works of Miro, Gaudi, Picasso and Tapies on the weekends and working in the studio the rest of the time. I made works in series influenced by the experience – the political climate of the Catalan area, Latin music, and, the vibrancy of place and culture. In my work, I was able to reconnect with the use of strong colour and bold abstract form.
